The Making of the Bideawee Shirt

We are so proud of the design created by Bennie Wells! Not only is the image eye-catching, but the underlying message of compassion and companionship is one that (I think) can resonate with any animal lover.

To really understand what’s going on, check out what Bennie has to say about his inspiration for the design:

“What initially struck me about Bideawee, and what I really wanted to capture, was the companion aspect of their organization and the immense compassion they feel towards animals.

I began exploring home and comfort imagery, but it all seemed a bit contrived. Besides, Bideawee is more than just an adoption service, so I went back and tried to capture what it meant to have a life-long animal companion. I kept coming back to the image of a dog carrying slippers to his owner, or him bringing in the paper, carried in his mouth.

Long story short I came up with this imagery and I think it works. It’s simple, conveys the idea about the services that they provide. It doesn’t get bogged down in the details of showing everything (i.e. there’s not a cat, a dog, a home, vetrinay imagery, play date reference etc.) but it does say multiple things at once: animals, compassion and relationships. I also love that the breed of dog is a Scottish Terrier or Scotty for a very subtle historical reference.”

There you have it folks – a window into the creative soul of the extremely talented Bennie Wells.
